This week, I had the incredible opportunity to speak at the home offices of two iconic global brands — McDonald’s in Chicago and Coca-Cola in Atlanta. Just seeing those logos instantly brings to mind what each brand stands for — consistency and an unmistakable identity.
That got me thinking… what about your brand?
Whether you’ve been intentionally shaping it or haven’t given it much thought lately, you have a personal brand. It’s being built every single day — by how you show up, how you treat people, and how you handle life when things get hard.
You may not be able to control what others think about you, but you can control what you put out into the world.
So, ask yourself:
- How do I treat people when no one’s watching?
- How do I show up when challenges hit?
- Am I living in alignment with my values?
Your values are the foundation of your brand. When your daily actions reflect what you truly believe in, that’s when your brand becomes powerful and authentic.
But there’s another piece that’s just as important — emotional intelligence. Your ability to stay calm under pressure, respond thoughtfully in difficult conversations, and receive feedback with an open mind is what sets great leaders apart. And don’t forget the power of kindness!
John Gray, President and COO of Blackstone, put it perfectly: “Kindness is an amazing superpower.”
And he’s right.
If two people are equally qualified for a job or opportunity, the one who demonstrates emotional intelligence — kindness, empathy, composure — will always stand out. Those “people skills” are your competitive advantage.
So, as you head into the weekend, take a moment to reflect on your personal brand. Are your actions and values aligned? Are you leading with kindness and emotional intelligence?
Remember: your personal brand is your daily legacy — built one decision, one conversation, and one interaction at a time.
Live and lead from your values and demonstrate your EQ, that’s how you’ll find yourself sitting in the front-row of life!

Marilyn
